CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION IN LANE COUNTY
It’s not about whether we can.
It’s about whether we will.

Lane County’s Seven Regions
East Lane
The East Lane Team is thrilled to be part of Roots of Empathy, which has received lots of positive feedback from participating schools, families, and instructors. It was proud to be the third region to launch the Welcome Baby Bundle program, and is now making consistent deliveries. Currently, the team is working to expand Safe Families for Children, a faith-based respite program for families in crisis.

South Lane
The South Lane Team launched 90by30’s very first prevention plan strategy, the Welcome Baby Bundle program, in 2017. Roots of Empathy, the second countywide strategy, brings “tiny teachers” into classrooms to teach young students empathy. Child Abuse Prevention Month is always a big deal in South Lane, where the team goes all out to decorate Main Street with blue ribbons and pinwheels.

West Lane
The West Lane 90by30 Regional Leadership Team is made up of more than a dozen volunteers who live in Florence, Mapleton, Swisshome, Dunes City and Deadwood. In addition to Roots of Empathy and the Welcome Baby Bundle, the team is preparing to roll out new strategy to support middle school youth: EmpowerME, which bolsters the supports and strengths that young people need to succeed.

Eugene
The Eugene Regional Leadership Team faces the challenges - and advantages - of working where more than half the population of Lane County lives. With the large and diverse population of the region, issues of equity and inclusion are constantly a priority. In collaboration with the Springfield team, the Eugene team offers Parent Cafés each month. Safe Families, a respite program for families in crisis, is another of the region’s key strategies.

McKenzie
The McKenzie Team covers the areas of Walterville, Vida, Blue River, and McKenzie Bridge. The team was the first to pilot Parent Café-style support groups and looks forward to reconvening post-pandemic. The team is working to add new members. If you’d like more information, please reach out today!

North Lane
North Lane team members are passionate about strengthening families in their rural region of Lane County. The team specifically chose to implement the Welcome Baby Bundle program in 2020 as a way to combat pandemic-fueled isolation and make community connections. Building connections comes naturally to this team, which often tables at the Veneta Farmer’s Market, has a champion in SLUG Queen contestant Slimella Bella, and is planning a series of Parent Café peer support groups.

Springfield
The Springfield Regional Leadership Team of 90by30 is composed of community volunteers who live or work in Springfield and have a wide range of skills and experiences. Team members are working closely with their Eugene counterparts to host Parent Cafés. The Springfield team is fantastic at community engagement, whether making a splash in the Springfield Christmas Parade or staging a fun photo booths at local events like Pride in the Park and the Children’s Festival.
